Update on the neglected tropical diseases movement and impact.

Watch Now

Professor Peter Hotez, one of the founders of the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) movement, discusses its evolution and progress that has impacted more than 1 billion of the world’s poorest people over the last two decades. NTDs include chronic and debilitating infections such as schistosomiasis, hookworm infection, river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, trachoma, and scabies.

Dr. Hotez discusses the work to accelerate mass treatment and new drug, diagnostic, and vaccine development for people living in extreme poverty, as well as the third edition of his book Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases.

In this recorded webinar, you will:

  • Learn about the origins of the NTDs and how these conditions affect vulnerable populations living in low- and middle-income countries.
  • Review the impact of the NTDs on girls and women living in poverty and child development.
  • Explore the development of new drugs, diagnostics, and vaccines and the key role of nonprofit product development partnerships.
