coming-soon-new-wiley-digital-archive-focusing-on-climate-change
March 11, 2022
We are pleased to announce that a new archive, Wiley Digital Archives: Environmental Science and History (WDA: ENV), is currently in the works and slated for completion in early 2023.
WDA: ENV will focus on critical aspects of anthropogenic change, with unique and rare archival collections from multiple, global sources. This new archive will build on Wiley’s unrivaled publishing in this area and will present a rewarding historical dimension to this critical field of research.
The primary sources in WDA: ENV will enable the impacts of human activity on the natural world to be traced, researched, and analyzed through various documents, images, data, maps, and photographs.
WDA: ENV will create opportunities for new insights into the natural world, the ways anthropogenic activity has impacted climates, biodiversity, and ecological balances, and will describe early efforts to understand and mitigate or remediate the negative effects of human activities on the natural world. The content in WDA: ENV will primarily come from new digitization and will complement existing resources on these topics while avoiding overlap/duplication.
WDA: ENV will be comprised of approximately one million pages and will include collections that will cover a wide range of topics in:
- Ecology
- Botany
- Biodiversity
- Deforestation
- Agriculture
- Livestock
- Fisheries
- Water Sources
- Irrigation Wetlands
- Hydrology
- Climate Change
Substantial material will be available from mid-2022 with a view to completion in early 2023.
The collections in WDA: ENV will also complement data, documents, and themes present in the existing WDA archives from the Royal Geographical Society, Royal Anthropological Institute, New York Academy of Sciences, British Association for the Advancement of Science, and Royal College of Physicians.
