Brian studied chemistry at Rhodes College (Memphis) and California Institute of Technology (Pasadena), and completed his PhD at the University of Regensburg in Germany. He joined Wiley-VCH in 2006 as editor at Angewandte Chemie and then Chemistry-An Asian Journal before assuming responsibility for a group of journals with primarily external editorial offices.
