Wiley Digital Archives (WDA) offers several different methods of authentication to its users:

IP Based Authentication – in this method, users are authenticated based on their IP address. This is the most common method of authentication and the library admins can provide a range of IP addresses that can access the WDA product. IP address ranges can be configured in WDA’s Admin Portal. A unique link or URL to the product is not required to access WDA via IP authentication.

Trial User ID/Password – in this method, users are authenticated based on their user id and passwords. This is used only for trial accounts and are not used for customer accounts. A unique link or URL to the product is not required to access WDA via user id/password authentication. If WDA cannot authenticate a user via IP authentication, it automatically prompts the user to enter a user id and password to access the application.

EZProxy – in this method, users are authenticated via OCLC’s EZProxy product (either on-premise or the cloud instance). This method is commonly used to authenticate remote users. The remote users are authenticated by the EZProxy server and then the EZProxy server proxies all the requests via its IP address. To enable this feature, EZProxy needs to be configured with a WDA-specific stanza and the IP address of the EZProxy must be configured in WDA via its Admin Portal.

Other Proxies – in this method, users are proxied via a third-party proxy server such as WAM and HAN. Typically, these proxies are configured to route all requests through the proxy and the IP address of the proxy is configured to access the application in WDA’s Admin Portal.

Shibboleth – in this method, users are authenticated via Shibboleth setup at an institution. Users are authenticated by institution’s Shibboleth Identity Provider and requests are then redirected to WDA’s Shibboleth Service Provider. A trust relationship needs to be setup prior to access. Please reach out to techsupport@wileydigitalarchives.com for setup of Shibboleth based authentication. WDA support team will then provide a URL for Shibboleth access.
