About the Author
MICHAEL B. HORN (Boston, MA) is co-founder and Executive Director of Education at the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation. He leads a team that educates policymakers and community leaders on the power of disruptive innovation in the K-12 and higher education spheres. His team aims to transform monolithic, factory-model education systems into student-centric designs that educate every student successfully and enable each to realize his or her fullest potential. Horn is co-author of Disrupting Class: How Disruptive Innovation Will Change the Way the World Learns (McGraw-Hill, 2008) with Clayton Christensen and Curtis Johnson. He writes a regular column for Forbes and has contributed to other media including The Washington Post, The Economist, Huffington Post, and Education Week. He keynotes frequently at education conferences and was named by Tech&Learning magazine as one of the 100 most important people in Ed Tech. Horn serves on a number of boards including those of Fidelis, inBloom, and the Silicon Schools Fund.
HEATHER STAKER
(Austin, TX) is Senior Research Fellow in Education at the Clayton Christensen Institute for Disruptive Innovation. One of the world’s foremost experts on K-12 blended learning, she was named by Scholastic as one of the “Five People to Watch in Education” in 2012. Staker appears regularly throughout the country as a keynote speaker, workshop leader, and conference panelist. She has written for numerous education publications, delivered webinars for Education Week and the International Association for K–12 Online Learning, and testified about education policy to house and senate committees in Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
