About the Author

Joseph Sung, MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine and Director of Institute of Digestive Disease at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His major research interest is on endoscopic and pharmacologic therapy of peptic ulcer bleeding, screening and early diagnosis of digestive disease cancers. He has published over 450 full scientific articles and serves as Associate Editor for GIE.

Ernest Kuipers, MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine and Head of Departments of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and Internal Medicine at Erasmus MC Hospital in the Netherlands. His main interest of research includes Helicobacter pylori infection and its relationship with gastritis and gastric cancer, gastro-esophageal reflux disease and endoscopic technology. He has published over 320 publications and serves as Associate Editor for Gut.

Alan Barkun, MD is Professor of Medicine and Chief of Gastroenterology at Montreal General Hospital, McGill University, Canada. He is an endoscopist as well as epidemiologist with major interest in clinical trial design, consensus and guideline development in gastrointestinal bleeding. Dr. Barkun has published over 170 full scientific articles and serves in the research committee of ASGE.
