About the Author
Piet Herdewijn is full professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Leuven and director of the laboratory of medicinal chemistry at the Rega Institute for Medical Research (Belgium). He holds a Ph.D. from the same institution, having worked as a post-doctoral researcher and assistant professor at the universities of Konstanz (Germany) and Ghent (Belgium) in between. He is a member of the Belgian Academy of Medicine, representing Chemistry, and a founding member of the International Society of Nucleosides, Nucleotides, and Nucleic Acids. Apart from having close to 500 contributions to scientific journals and books to his credit, he is an editor of the Current Protocols in Nucleic Acid Chemistry, also published by Wiley.
