Medical Devices & Sensors will serve an international audience by publishing cutting-edge information related to innovations in the science & engineering that underlie medical devices and medical sensors, including recent developments, application-specific testing, clinical translation, commercialization, and regulatory issues. The title fills a gap in the literature by addressing key issues surrounding multi-material systems (e.g., multicomponent biomedical sensors) as well as other topics that lie at the forefront of research into new types of medical devices and sensors, including bioinformatics associated with medical device technologies, medical electronics, devices for rehabilitation engineering, software/coding of medical devices, and mobile health technologies. Further, the journal aims to close the translational gap between academic research and industrial development of medical devices. In addition, the journal will routinely provide analysis of recent activities and commentaries by leading experts.
Medical Devices & Sensors will be interdisciplinary in nature and will provide comprehensive coverage of advancements in the science & engineering that underlie medical devices and medical sensors via (a) rapid communication articles on exciting research advances, (b) full-length articles that describe research developments in a comprehensive manner, (c) mini-reviews* that cover recent progress in research and clinical translation, (d) editorials that express opinions of international thought leaders, or (e) case studies** that communicate information on academic and industrial breakthroughs.
The journal aims serve as an important resource for rapid communication to the many groups that develop and use medical devices and medical sensors, including academic researchers, government researchers, biomedical materials manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, regulatory staff, and clinicians.
