About the Author

Grahame Smith is Principal Lecturer and Head of Social Work, Mental Health and Counselling at Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He is an experienced mental health nurse who has worked in a variety of?mental health service settings. He has a proven career record within the area of health care research and development both as a field-worker and as a project manager.
His current role in the higher education sector ensures that he is involved directly in the process of delivering both pre and post registration nurse education courses. He is also a team member of a practice development team within an in-patient mental health setting.
